The leukemia foundation keeps families together

As soon as my poppy was diagnosed with nonhodgkin's lymphoma the Leukemia foundation provided accommodation and support . Being that Poppy lived in regional Queensland where the nearest treatment was nearly 6 hours travel away, being given somewhere to live with his wife while undergoing chemo therapy was a insurmountable expense and logistical nightmare taken care of when your world is turned upside down with a cancer diagnosis. The significance of this practical support means that families can focus on being there for their loved ones as they undergo the most terrifying experience of their life. 

Any travel is expensive but the protracted time frame of intense chemo therapy requires reginal families to live away from home for up to 6 months or more for many this expense would be an insurmountable barrier to accessing lifesaving treatment. The Leukemia foundation provides this quickly and easily reliving the family of the day to day worry and financial burden. 

Any amount – big or small – will make a real, tangible difference.
