Last year, I watched some of my schoolmates cut their hair to raise money for cancer research. At the time, I thought I could never do something like that. But as the months went by, one by one, people close to me were diagnosed with cancer. Family members and friends of mine have been fighting this battle for months, even years, and it made me realise this was a calling from God, a chance to make a difference and raise awareness for something that is so widely known, yet so little understood. What I didn't know back then, as a Year 9 student, was that I would be cutting all my hair off just a year later. I now know it's for the right reason, and nothing could mean more to me than that.
