Help me take a stand against blood cancer

Hello,

I am a final year PhD student, studying blood cancer at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Melbourne, Australia, and will have my head shaved by one of my supervisors!

My specific project examines a protein called MCL-1, and how inhibiting this protein can kill blood cancers, whilst trying to leave healthy tissues intact.

My PhD is funded by the Leukaemia Foundation, and this is my small way of giving back. Through them I've engaged with many people affected by blood cancer, and I am constantly inspired by their resilience and character. It's a constant reminder of why us scientists do the research we do.

Scientific progress is a rather careful (and slow) process, and requires constant funding across many years to yield breakthroughs. So please donate to my page (or WEHI's page) to support blood cancer research, and those affected by this disease.

Damian

Help me earn the Transportation badge. That's enough to provide a month of free transport for people who are too ill to drive after chemotherapy treatment.

I’m $1,353 away from my next impact milestone. Please help me reach it.

My Updates

Thanks to all involved

Thursday 17th Sep
Hi all,

Just like to thank you all for supporting myself and Team WEHI for this event!

As mentioned, this is our small way of giving back to the Leukaemia Foundation, who have supported many scientists throughout Australia, including myself, funded by a LF PhD scholarship.

I've attached a photo of Team WEHI in the lab: Dr. Kath Colman (with her newly coloured hair), myself, Prof. Andreas Strasser, and Dr. Cameron Lewis.

All the best,
Damian
