Three years ago, my tiny premature boy found comfort in his hair. From the very beginning, it became his little security blanket, and even now at four years old, he absolutely loves his long, beautiful red-auburn hair.
Now, together, we’ve decided to turn that comfort into hope for someone else.
After growing his gorgeous locks for over three years, Finlay will be donating more than 30 cm of hair to help create a wig for a child battling cancer. If his hair has brought him comfort, we hope it can bring confidence, strength and a smile to another little warrior.
And because no one should face a challenge alone, I’ll be sitting beside him in the chair and donating my own long auburn hair too. Together, we’ll be giving double the hair, double the hope, and showing that even the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.
Finlay has even chosen his own fundraising goal—$1,000. At just four years old, his wish is to help children and families facing cancer, and we’re hoping we can reach (or even exceed!) his goal before we cut our hair in September 2026.
Every dollar raised will go to the Cancer Council to support life-saving cancer research, prevention programs, and services for people affected by cancer.
This is so much more than a haircut. It’s about courage, compassion, and teaching my little boy that kindness has the power to change lives. I couldn’t be prouder of you, Finlay. My heart is bursting with pride as we take this journey together.
