Help me take a stand against blood cancer

Blood cancer is a huge problem, with over 170,000 Australians facing the devastating impact of blood cancer, and 17 people losing their lives every single day.

Leukaemia is such an important cause, and something I am personally super passionate about, given my experiences and of those around me. Several of my family and friends have suffered from cancer, and we have all lost so many precious, beautiful people.

Most recently, one of my favourite influencers, Zuza Beine, passed away after battling leukaemia for 11 years. She was only 14, following her ongoing struggle with cancer, but she inspired so many people with her bright personality and perseverance.

Zuza reminded me of several kids I was friends with when I was misdiagnosed with cancer. When I was 5 years old, I spent several months in the oncology ward of Sydney Children's Hospital, supported by my family and friends, but mostly by the most beautiful nurses, doctors and volunteers. Together, they made it one of the most incredible experiences of my life, working hard to ensure that every kid there felt valuable, supported and happy. They are the reason why I have decided to become a paediatric nurse, to help more kids, like those I knew. I ended up being diagnosed with Chronic Remitting Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO), a rare bone disease, but the impact that these people had on my life changed and inspired me.

The Leukaemia Foundation, the Starlight Foundation, and Make-A-Wish are three incredible charities run by volunteers and donations. These organisations work closely with hospitals like the Sydney Children's Hospital to provide life-saving care and support for families, providing cutting-edge research, spreading information and awareness, and advocating for change. The goal of the Leukaemia Foundation is to achieve zero lives lost to blood cancer by 2035.

This is my second year shaving, but I would do it a million times over to even contribute a small bit to help these amazing people and this incredible cause.

I would absolutely love it if you could donate. Every dollar counts and can make a real difference!
