Living in today’s world, it is easy to get caught up in day-to-day life. Social media constantly pushes us to focus on what we don’t have – comparing ourselves to others, envying other people’s lives or possessions – and we forget to pause and feel grateful:
Grateful for food and water.
Grateful for family and friends.
Grateful for our bodies and our health.
Grateful for what we do have.
I’m guilty of this too. That’s why I have decided to shave my head.
Right now, over 170 000 Aussies are facing the devastating impact of blood cancer, and 17 lose their lives – their world – every single day.
For years, I’ve had long hair, and shaving it all off will mean a lot to me. Most importantly, it’s a way to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and support. It’s a small way for me to understand what it’s like to lose something we often take for granted, and to begin to have more gratitude for everything I am blessed to have in my life.
That is why I’m taking on the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
I am dedicating this shave to my late grandfather who passed away in 2008.
