Help me take a stand against blood cancer
Right now, over 170,000 Australians are facing the devastating impact of blood cancer, and 17 lose their life every single day.
Those who know me well, know what I have personally experienced - a journey that started in Nov 2021. Not only the physical pain I endured but the mental anguish which at times was unbearable. I spent over 100 days in hospital over a period of 8mths, separated from my family, friends and my life! And with Covid lockdowns, at times I couldn’t even have a visitor. Hundreds of injections/blood tests, 3 PICCs including one into my neck, 8 spinal taps (with chemo injections into my spine), 14 bone marrow biopsies burrowing into my hip bone, a donor stem cell transplant, and colitis that required morphine to manage the pain.
At the end of all the treatment, I was left with a compromised immune system, osteoporosis and avascular narcosis in my right femur which required a full hip replacement.
And of course, I lost my hair during all the treatment…..twice!
Thank god I had the support of my family and friends and most importantly, I received the treatment I needed. Now, it’s time to give back and raise some money for this great cause.
I’ll be taking on the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave by cutting and donating my hair on Monday 13Apr, after almost 4yrs of growing. By donating to my page, you’ll help me raise funds and awareness for blood cancer, and fuel life-changing research projects and support services for patients and their families.
Any amount – big or small – will make a real, tangible difference.
