After careful consideration, and discussion with whoever wants to listen, I have decided to cut off 20-30cm of my hair for a wig to whoever needs it. For a while, I was caught up by questions: how will I look, will it suit me, will I still feel like myself? But at some point, those thoughts were diminished by the possibility of what this could mean for someone else.
My hair means everything to me, and thinking of those who lose theirs, especially through illness, puts that all into perspective. If this small act can help restore that sense of self for someone, then it’s worth far more than the hesitation I felt.
And so, I thank all my family, friends, and others for supporting me.
