18 months ago, my eldest son got sick, many doctors appointments, blood tests and a whole lot of hair loss later, eventually led to an autoimmune disease and Alopecia diagnosis. He will be on medication for the rest of his life, but we felt so blessed that it wasn't something more serious, and that he will still be able to live a normal life. So while I was grateful for my family, my heart broke for those that aren't so lucky. That don't get the good news but instead have their life turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis, and I wanted to do something to help.
I have participated in the shave before, when I decided to celebrate 'becoming an adult' and finishing year 12 by shaving my head at my 18th birthday and raising money for those affected by cancer. When asked if I would do it again, I joked 'maybe in another 18 years'
But here I am, 18 years later. Ready to shave, donate my hair and raise some money to help those families effected by Cancer.
