It was only a matter of time, right?
As a young man growing up, there were significant gaps in my role models. Men who should have been there to guide, mentor and model the 'right way' to live were taken far too early.
I never knew my grandfathers, both dying of lung cancer before I was 5. My uncle died from liver cancer when I was 7. My father in law died far too young and never got the meet his grandson to watch him grow and teach him how to fish. Gaps that should never have been there and I would like to mend for others dealing with cancer.
I don't have much to offer to support people living with cancer or those who are impacted by it except a tragically receding hairline and 20 years of never getting a hair cut.
Well, after a long time ruminating and considering it, I thought it's time to do the World’s Greatest Shave.
If I'm going to go bald I may as well do it for a good cause.
I'm keeping the beard, though.
