Hi I am Jackson Kings, I'm 16 years old, and this year I've decided to join my school team & I'm taking on the World's Greatest Shave in memory of two very special people who meant the world to me.
On 6th November 2022, I lost my beloved Pop, Peter Kings to multiple myeloma. He wasn't just my Pop—he was my best mate, my biggest supporter, and simply the best Pop anyone could ask for. Losing him left a hole in my heart that will never be filled.
Then, just six months later, on 28th May 2023, my family suffered another heartbreaking loss when my beautiful Aunty Jen passed away after her battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She left behind my Uncle Damo & my 3 cousins Maddy, Soph & Jakey to grow up without their Mum. And that's something I could never imagine the pain of having to do.
Blood cancer has changed my life forever. I know what it's like to watch people you love fight this disease, and I know the pain and grief that families carry long after they're gone. My family lives with that loss every single day.
That's why I've decided to shave my head for the World's Greatest Shave. I'm doing it in honour of my Pop and my Aunty Jen. And to help raise money for blood cancer research and support services so that other families can have more time with the people they love—and so no one has to face blood cancer alone.
