A Promise I've Kept Since 2014. Every 4 Years, I Shave for Love.
Hello, to the beautiful souls that are reading this…
My name is Gabrielle Limock, and ’m from Victoria, AUSTRALIA. I wanted to share a little introduction about a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart and invite you all to be part of it.
When I was just 13 years old, I shaved my head for the first time as part of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave. I did it in honour of my grandmother, who had been bravely battling breast cancer for 14 years.
March 2014 was the year I decided to step out of my comfort zone. Granny paused her chemo treatment to come down and support me during that first shave, which meant the world to me. It was a way to show that our hair doesn’t define our beauty, raise awareness and standing in solidarity with those facing cancer. Sadly later that year in November she passed away.
Since then, I’ve kept a promise to myself and to her memory: I’ve made it a tradition to shave my head every four years: in 2014, 2018, 2022, and now, coming up in 2026. On Saturday, March 14th, 2026, I’ll be shaving my head once again, aiming to raise $5,000 for blood cancer research and support through the World’s Greatest Shave, while also donating my hair to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
This cause is a tribute to my Granny’s legacy and a reminder that real strength and true beauty comes from within; not just what’s on the outside.
