Help me take a stand against blood cancer

I have pledged to PEROXIDE my hair a lovely shade of white if we can raise sufficient funds!

Okay, so no one in their right mind would sponsor me to shave my head; let’s face it, it's been done many times before. However, this year the school is running a team to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation through the ‘Worlds’ Great Shave’. My personal goal is $1000, which will be added automatically to the school total.

I’d LOVE it if you could make a donation towards this truly GREAT cause, a little or a lot. All donations will make a difference in relation to:

1. Direct Patient Support and Care - Providing "wraparound" support services to patients and their families navigating the emotional, physical, and financial challenges of blood cancer.

  • Accommodation: The Foundation operates blood cancer accommodation centers located close to hospitals, providing a home-away-from-home for patients and families, particularly those from rural or remote areas.

  • Transport Assistance: Funds cover transport to and from hospital treatments, providing fuel, Uber, or taxi vouchers.

  • Financial Assistance: Direct financial support is provided to help families pay for daily costs such as rent, bills, and groceries.

  • Support & Education: The money funds Blood Cancer Support Coordinators who help patients navigate their journey, along with online support groups and educational webinars.

2. Blood Cancer Research - The Leukaemia Foundation National Research Program, which aims to improve treatments and find a cure.

  • Research Grants: Since 2000, over $60 million has been committed to funding research, including laboratory-based studies and clinical trials.

  • Specialised Projects: Funds support investigations into the causes of blood cancer and its impact on specific groups, such as First Nations people.

In summary, the money helps ensure that people living with blood cancer can access the care they need, reduces the financial burden of treatment, and invests in scientific breakthroughs.

Thanks for having your say
