Why I’m taking on the World’s Greatest Shave
This year, blood cancer became something incredibly personal to our family when my son was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.
Nothing can prepare you for hearing that your child has cancer. In a moment, life changes completely — suddenly there are appointments, treatments, uncertainty and a whole new world that no family ever expects to find themselves navigating.
Watching my son face his diagnosis and treatment with such courage has inspired me to do something in his honour.
So, on Wednesday 26 August, I’ll be shaving my head as part of the World’s Greatest Shave to stand alongside him and to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
This shave is for my son, but it is also for every person and every family whose lives have been turned upside down by blood cancer.
The money we raise will help fund vital support for Australians living with blood cancer and their families, as well as research that can help create better treatments and brighter futures.
If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small the amount, it would mean an enormous amount to me and my family.
And if shaving my hair can help another family facing what ours is facing now, then it is hair very well lost.
