Supporting research to deliver better outcomes
It's now almost 10 years since James was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Diagnosis was unusually challenging and he was very sick when they finally worked out what was wrong (after telling us multiple times it wasn't cancer). What followed was six months of intensive chemotherapy and a further 18 months of maintenance chemotherapy. Multiple lumbar punctures, a central line, feeding tube (he lost 40% of his body weight). It was truly horrific to see our child (and so many others) dealing with so much at only 5 years of age. Ten years on James is thriving. He's an incredible kid. Together we want to raise as much as we can to hopefully find kinder cures (google the side effects of Vincristine, Daunorubicin, Doxorubicin, Asparaginase, Cyclophosphamide, Cytarabine, Methotrexate, 6-mercaptopurine, 6-thioguanine and you'll get the idea).
