Eleven awesome boys from Epping Boys High School in Sydney, are now rocking bald heads having raised over $24,000 so far as part of this year’s World’s Greatest Shave. The boys had their heads shaved on-air as part of Sam Mac's live weather cross on Channel 7’s Sunrise, which kicked off bright and early at 5.30am on Monday 22 February with seven live crosses in total, and inspiring thousands of Australians around the country.
An ambassador for the Leukaemia Foundation, 21-year-old Zoie Moore, and the Leukaemia Foundation’s General Manager of Supporters, Rachael Lance, were also interviewed on the day to help raise awareness of World’s Greatest Shave and to invite more people to join the mission to save lives and conquer the world from blood cancer.
Students participating in World’s Greatest Shave learn important values and lessons through the shared experience of shaving and fundraising, including empathy, empowerment, philanthropy, community values and social conscience. In addition, they significantly help the Leukaemia Foundation to ensure that families facing blood cancer have access to the best possible support, care, information and treatment, as well as a place to call home during treatment.
Epping Boys High School are a fantastic example of how taking part in World’s Greatest Shave can become one of life’s most memorable experiences, as participating students share the experience of shaving their hair together as a group, and also learn that the simple, yet brave act of shaving, can make a big difference.
