What charity does the World’s Greatest Shave raise money for?
Since 1998, the World’s Greatest Shave has raised millions for the Leukaemia Foundation, Australia’s only dedicated blood cancer charity that provides support to families impacted by the disease across the country.
This care ensures that people living with blood cancer can access the treatment, emotional support, and resources they need.

Where your money goes
When somebody donates to the World’s Greatest Shave, it goes directly towards funding the Leukaemia Foundation’s critical blood cancer care, support and research efforts. Learn about the different types of assistance and support provided below.
Accommodation assistance
The Leukaemia Foundation operates blood cancer accommodation centres across the country that are located close to hospitals. This gives families forced to relocate from rural and remote areas a place to stay close to the treatment many need to survive.

Financial assistance
Financial stress is a hidden yet common problem when diagnosed with blood cancer. The Leukaemia Foundation can provide direct financial support, counselling, and distribute financial information in a variety of ways, depending on the needs of the patient or family. See what financial assistance the Leukaemia Foundation provides here.
Transport assistance
The Leukaemia Foundation provides transport assistance to help patients get to and from treatment or medical appointments. By providing practical support including fuel, Uber or taxi vouchers to reduce travel costs, blood cancer patients can get to where they need to go without the added financial stress. Learn how this type of support helps the blood cancer community here.
Emotional support
The long-lasting effects of blood cancer go way beyond the physical toll it takes on the body. That's why the Leukaemia Foundation offers emotional support to patients, families, and carers, helping them navigate each stage of the experience – from diagnosis and treatment to survivorship.
This means delivering emotional support and counselling through our qualified team of healthcare professionals, helping people not just survive blood cancer, but thrive after it.
Online education events and support groups
Your donation can help the Leukaemia Foundation provide online blood cancer education and support programs to help people navigate the experience with the support of others like them. Support groups, webinars, and Facebook groups are available to patients, families, and carers, providing education and support in an easily accessible way. Critical research
The Leukaemia Foundation National Research Program funds research designed to improve care, treatment, and outcomes for blood cancer patients. Key projects that donations help fund include clinicians and researchers who are improving access to clinical trials, and investigating the impact of blood cancer on First Nations people.
