After nearly ten years of having a beard, I’ve agreed to do something I never thought I would do, shave it off.
Next week I’ll be taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave to help raise money for Australians facing blood cancer.
This beard has been part of my identity for a long time. In fact, my wife has never actually seen my face without it.
The real reason this is happening, though, is my students. After weeks of persistent encouragement (and a healthy amount of guilt-tripping), they convinced me that if I was going to shave it off, it might as well be for a cause that genuinely helps people.
So next week the beard goes.
If you’re able to support the cause, even a small donation makes a difference. Every dollar raised helps the Leukaemia Foundation continue supporting families and funding vital research into blood cancers.
Pls keep the moustache. It can go in November!
