Slater & Xavier Shave for a Cure

Shave for Support – Slater & Xavier

Slater (Left) is shaving his head to support his mum, who is bravely fighting Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
Xavier (Right) is shaving alongside him to support his mate — and he knows firsthand how tough the cancer journey can be, after watching his own mum fight and beat breast cancer.

Slater’s Story

In October 2023, Slater’s mum was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
With favourable genetics, the initial plan was chemotherapy only, offering good odds for long-term remission.

Sadly, in October 2025, the cancer returned. Slater’s mum is now beginning a new chemotherapy regimen at Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH), followed by a stem cell transplant at the Royal Brisbane Hospital (RBH).

Throughout their journey, the Leukaemia Foundation has provided incredible emotional support and guidance. This time, the Thompson family will be relying even more on their help during what will be a long stay in Brisbane.

A Family Effort

It’s not just the boys getting involved!
Slater’s brother Braith and Xavier’s sister Edaline are pitching in too — running a book stall at school with the help of their Year 2 classmates to raise funds and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation.

💙 Every small act of kindness makes a big difference.
Together, we can support families like Slater’s and help the Leukaemia Foundation continue their incredible work.

NOTE: Shave Date may vary but will let you know ASAP.

Thanks for having your say
