Help me take a stand against blood cancer

Right now, over 150,000 Australians are facing the devastating impact of blood cancer, and 17 lose their life every single day.

That’s why I’m taking on the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave. By donating to my page, you’ll help me raise funds and awareness for blood cancer, and fuel life-changing research projects and support services for patients and their families.

Any amount – big or small – will make a real, tangible difference.

I’ve added a poll so if you want me to do something stupid (like a mullet) please go to the poll when donating and select the option you want. I will upload a photo of the hairstyle that wins.

Update on family situation

Saturday 8th Feb
I’ll make a follow-up post later but I found out earlier this week that my First Cousin once removed was admitted to hospital and was diagnosed with a mass in his stomach, lymphoma and leukaemia (as a secondary condition). He was admitted to the ICU on Wednesday and has now been put into an induced coma and is on life support. He is currently on a more aggressive form of chemotherapy but the outlook is bleak. So I’m no longer doing this for Zac alone but also for Tony.

Stay Strong Tony.

The reason why

Monday 3rd Feb
Back when I was in Primary School, there was a kid named Zac who didn’t show up for the first few months of prep unbeknownst to us children, he had leukaemia and he was in remission. When Zac first came to school and got to interact with the rest of us preps he was such a nice person and had a vibrant personality. Always having fun, always laughing, always smiling.

I remember when he was a part of Make-A-Wish and he wanted a Labrador puppy. The look of happiness and joy on his face when his mum brought the puppy to school the day she picked it up.

Unfortunately he was dealt that hand at a young age but he was stronger than the cancer was. To think that some are unlucky enough to have to deal with this sort of situation once or even twice is a heartbreaking scenario.

So I’m doing this for Zac and the other children who have gone through something similar or are going through it currently.

Shaving date

Monday 3rd Feb
I’m think of changing the date from mid March to the end of March to help with allowing the weather to cool a bit and not get sunburnt my first day back at work after getting shaved.
