Help me take a stand against blood cancer

Next year marks 10 years since we lost Mum to leukaemia — a milestone that means a lot to me and my family.

To honour her, I am doing things a little differently for the World’s Greatest Shave in 2027. Instead of just turning up and shaving my head, I am committing to something bigger… 12 months of fundraising and 12 months of hair growth.

That means no haircuts and no beard trimming* for a full year 😬 — which, to be honest, might be more of a challenge than the shave itself.

This will not just be about me either. My wife is thinking of joining in for the shave and even my daughters are keen to play a part along the way. It is something we want to do together, as a family, in Mum’s memory.

The plan is to kick things off this April, with a fundraising page open for the full 12 months, building up to one big shave event in 2027.

I would love your support — whether that is donating when the page goes live, sharing the journey, or even joining in along the way. More details to come soon as we get everything set up.

Thanks in advance for being part of this with us ❤️

The girls before the big cut

Mother Day

Sunday 10th May

Today is Mother’s Day… and it also marks 9 years since we lost Mum.

This is the last photo I have with her — one I’ll always hold onto. 💛

Cleo still has some small memories of her Nanna Jules, and Beatrix, while she never got to meet her, loves hearing all the stories about the incredible person she was. She’s still very much part of our family, just in a different way.

Today also feels like the right time to share something pretty special.
Cleo and Beatrix have both committed to donating their hair through Sustainable Salons, where it will be used to make wigs for Australians experiencing medically induced hair loss.

For two young girls, that’s a huge and selfless commitment — and I couldn’t be prouder of them.

They’ve already jumped in and taken part in parts of the April challenge, but this takes things to another level. These two are absolute superstars, and while I’ve felt a lot of support throughout this journey, I’d love for you to send some their way as well.

This is what #OneUncomfortableYear is all about — family, purpose, and doing something that might make things a little easier for someone else.

If you’d like to be part of the journey:

• Or donate to support the Leukaemia Foundation

Together, we can help improve the future for people and families battling leukaemia. 💛

One month down 11 to go…

Tuesday 28th Apr

April is nearly done… and that means the first challenge of #OneUncomfortableYear is almost complete.

30 days of running 5km every day.
30 days with no alcohol.
30 days of choosing discomfort.

It hasn’t always been easy — early mornings, post–night shift runs, sore legs, and plenty of days where skipping would have been the easier option. But that’s exactly why I committed to this year.

And the support has been incredible. We’re now sitting at around $4,600 raised for the Leukaemia Foundation — all in less than a month. That’s genuinely amazing and I’m so grateful to everyone who has donated, shared, or followed along.

But we’re not slowing down. May is just days away… and with it comes the next challenge.

Next month I’ll be:
• Swimming 5km every week
• Cutting out caffeine
• And still keeping the legs ticking over for the August marathon

Another month of pushing the comfort zone — all building toward the World’s Greatest Shave 2027.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, now’s a great time:
• Donate
• Share the page
• Suggest a challenge
• Or join one along the way

One month nearly down.
Eleven to go.
Let’s keep the momentum building. 💛

Time to Get Uncomfortable

Tuesday 31st Mar
Tomorrow we get uncomfortable…

Yeah the hair is still relatively short and yes I “used” to do a lot of running… however, I’m a wee bit older now and well my feet suck and plantar fasciitis has been a toxic friend of mine for years.

But this isn’t about doing things easy… so let’s get going.

My challenge to all of you - share this page to all your friends. So many people have been affected by leukaemia - let’s try make things a little better for the future and raise some awareness and support the Leukaemia Foundation.
