Help us take a stand against blood cancer

Right now, over 170,000 Australians are facing the devastating impact of blood cancer, and 17 lose their life every single day.

That’s why we're taking on the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave. By donating to our page, you’ll help us raise funds and awareness for blood cancer, and fuel life-changing research projects and support services for patients and their families.

Any amount – big or small – will make a real, tangible difference.

Braved the Shave!

Last Friday, Pembroke staff and students across both the Middle and Senior School campuses had the pleasure of being involved in the World’s Greatest Shave, donating time, money and hair to the Leukemia Foundation. Thanks to the generous members of our Pembroke community, the Year 12 SSE are pleased to share that all fundraising targets were hit, and as a result all of the brave staff mentioned on this page have since been shorn.

We would like to thank Mr Pascale, Mr Heynen, Ms Sidwell and Mr Ward for shaving at the Middle School, and Mr Zielinski, Mr Clark, Dr Miller, Mr Bateman, Ms Woods, Mr Lodge and Dr Bayer at the Senior School for putting their hair (and, in some cases, their beards!) on the line. We would also like to thank ‘Pipsqueek in Saigon’ for sending two of their dedicated hairdressers from their salon in order to volunteer their time to help out at the Senior School alongside Mr Penn and Ms Annetta, and to Ms Andrews who handled the clippers at the Middle School.

It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm on the day, with over twenty students at the Senior School having joined in on the fundraising, getting their hair cut or shaved by their friends, and to the large crowds of supporters in the audience. The Middle School was particularly well attended and enthusiastic, with almost the entire campus turning out to watch their teachers being shaved!

After kicking things off with the sausage sizzle last term, our community has raised more than $25,000 so far! These funds will go towards the important work of the Leukemia Foundation in providing free services to patients and families, including emotional and mental health support, financial guidance, and accommodation for families in regional areas who may need to relocate to receive treatment, as well as ongoing blood cancer research.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, participated, cheered from the sidelines and helped make the day such a memorable one.

Pembroke's WGS BBQ

Last term, our sausage sizzle brought the Pembroke Senior School community together for a fantastic afternoon of food, fun and fundraising. The turnout exceeded expectations, with students lining up for a snag and getting behind the cause, as well as buying a raffle ticket for a shot at the clippers to shave Mr Bayer's hair!

Now, we're getting excited for the main event: our World's Greatest Shave event happening next Friday! A brave group of teachers and students have put their hand up (and their hair) on the line, ready to shave or cut their locks in support of people affected by blood cancer.

Let's give our teachers' precious hair the send off they deserve, and make this year's shave one to remember!
