About the event

  • What is the World’s Greatest Shave?

Every March thousands of people shave, colour and wax their hair to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.  It’s one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events, it’s also the most fun!

Simply decide if you wish to shave or colour your hair - sign up - and ask people to sponsor you.

Since 1998, World’s Greatest Shave has raised in excess of $120 million, and support for our biggest source of income has never been more important.

The dates for 2012 are Thursday 15 - Saturday 17 March.

    More about the event.

  • Is this the same as Shave for a Cure?

Shave for a Cure was renamed World’s Greatest Shave in 2003.  It’s important we use the new name as money raised not only goes towards research but also to supporting patients and their families with free services and practical care.

  • What’s the World Record?

We’re record breakers!  The Leukaemia Foundation currently holds the world record for ‘Most heads shaved in 24 hours.’ However, due to the large amount of paperwork and costs involved, we won’t be trying to beat this record until we receive a serious challenge to our title!

  • Can I shave or colour at another time of year?

Absolutely. You’re welcome to shave any time during the year. Call us on 1800 500 088 to discuss a time that suits you.

  • Do I have to raise money when I shave?

Getting sponsored to shave off your hair is the whole point!  Don’t miss the chance to have fun and help a really important cause at the same time.  If you’re going to take part, please make sure you ask family and friends to sponsor you.  Most people raise more than they expect to, and using our website to ask for donations makes it really easy.  You don’t have to raise thousands, every bit helps.
