Fundraising Tips

Family & Friends

Put a price on your head and encourage your friends and family to sponsor you.  Commit to colouring your hair and tell your sponsors you will shave if you reach your target. That way, you are doing something to your hair whatever you raise. (It also means you won’t have to give the money back if you don’t reach your target!)

E-mail your friends, family, workmates and neighbours to tell them about your shave. Don’t forget you can email friends and family overseas as well.

Make it an event by holding a barbeque or lunch, then you can ask for donations on the day and auction the pleasure of shaving your head.

Add your shave as an event on facebook.  It will remind friends of the date of your shave and prompt them to sponsor you.

Workplace

Challenge other stores, state offices or departments.

Have a ‘Mastershaver’ theme to your event.  Get 3 contestants to go crazy with colour hair spray on some willing volunteers and have a panel of judges to choose the most creative.  The winner is the ‘Mastershaver’ and gets to shave the boss’s head.

Find out if your business has a matching donations policy.  You can double your fundraising if the business matches what the staff raise.

Ask for on-line donations from your offices interstate or overseas. Send emails by logging in and clicking Get Sponsors.

Create your own poster with a ‘before’ photo and email it round the office – or post it on noticeboards.  It will inspire people to be generous.  Even better, use the computer to mock up a photo showing how you might look with no hair – it will inspire your sponsors who will want to see the real thing!

Collect donations on the day by holding your event at lunchtime or during after-work drinks.  If everyone is wearing colour in their hair, it may be a good idea to have a colouring breakfast to start off the day.

School

Encourage your teachers, principal or school captains to shave during a special assembly.

Set a target for your whole school. For example, raise $200 and one teacher shaves, raise $500 and all the teachers shave, raise $1,000 and the principal shaves too! The amounts are up to you!

Hold a house challenge - a bit of inter-house rivalry can raise big bucks!

No-one needs to shave.  You can go colour crazy by holding a Crazy Hair Day 4 Kids – bring a donation to school and everyone sprays their hair crazy colours for the day!
