What’s My Shave Page?
My Shave Page is your own secure area of the World's Greatest Shave website, where you can keep track of who has sponsored you online, how much money you have banked, order more materials (apart from what you first receive in your kit), invite others to sponsor you online, and keep your own details up-to-date. You also use My Shave Page to manage your Profile Page (see below).
You need to log in with the email address and password you registered with to access My Shave Page.
What’s the Profile Page?
Your profile page is your very own page on public display on the World’s Greatest Shave website, with your photos, how much you’re trying to raise, and your blog posts (like an online diary).
Everyone visiting the website can see these profile pages from the Gallery section of the website. They can see your photos, any blog posts about how and why you’re participating in World’s Greatest Shave, leave comments on your page, and sponsor you online.
What’s the Profile Page for?
It’s really for you to get as many online sponsorships as you can. It’s your own page that you can put your own personality into, and use to persuade anyone reading it to sponsor you online. If you're logged in now, why not:
- Upload a photo (maximum 10)
- Add a post (online diary entry)
What’s a blog post?
Writing a blog is like writing your own diary, except that it is on the web for everyone to see. A blog post is one entry. You may make as many posts as you like.
What picture formats can I upload?
For security reasons, you can only upload photo files of JPG or JPEG format. They can be either portrait or landscape. Upload a photo now (must be logged in first).
How big can the file be?
The maximum file size is 500KB. Once you upload your photo, it is automatically resized.
My photo is too big (over 500KB). How do I make it smaller to upload?
Often photos taken by digital cameras are too large to be viewed on this website. If you plan on uploading any photos to your profile page, you may need to make smaller copies on your computer first, before uploading them. Try these tips:
- Adjust the image quality setting on your digital camera to take photos at a smaller resolution, such as 800x600 or smaller. This may make them small enough to upload.
- Does your digital camera come with image editing software? If it's installed on your computer, open the software and follow the instructions to resize your photos. Remember to Save As a different file name so as not to overwrite your original (large) photo. Always save the photo in JPG/JPEG format
- Try using the free website www.resize2mail.com
to upload and reduce the size of your photo.
Can I upload a company logo (if I have a company registration)?
Yes, as long as it’s in a JPG/JPEG format.
Once I’ve added posts and photos, how do I modify any of them?
Just log back in to My Shave Page, click on either the My posts or My photos links, and click the Edit link next to each post or photo.
How do I tell my friends/family/workmates about My Profile Page?
The easiest way is to navigate to your own Profile Page yourself, and take
note of the website address. It will be something like:
http://www.worldsgreatestshave.com/profile.php?id=12345
Copy
this website address and paste it into an email to send to everyone
you know.
You can 'find yourself' by going to the Gallery section of this website, clicking on the link for your state/territory, then using the name search box just under the line that says " Browse the photos of shavers and colourers..."
Sending an e-card
Click here to send an e-card to everyone you know - it will automatically include a direct link to your profile page. Easier still, send the e-card to yourself and then forward it to everyone in your Email address book.
